3/8/2024 0 Comments Head start shoes![]() This blog is dedicated to stories of times when a girl has her shoe stolen written from multiple perspectives. It's happened to almost everyone, but no one really thinks too much of it. How about that terrible day you had before work where you foot got wedged in the subway door relinquishing your footwear? Or that time a rival from school stole your shoes to embarrass you, or when you did the same to get revenge? Like the time when boys would tease girls, but really just wanted their attention, by playing keep away with their shoe. It's dedicated to stories of female shoe loss. This site is dedicated to stories of a simpler time. She got the worst of it and if there was a hall of fame for our game, she would be in it for having the dirtiest sock. ![]() When her left shoe finally arrived, Sophia grabbed it and stuffed her dirty sock inside and went into her classroom. She complained about her dirty sock(s) and how it was going to make the inside of her shoes dirty too. I stood with Sophia as I was the designated rule keeper. The rule was that if you didn’t get your shoe back at the end of lunch, we would return it to you at your classroom door. Any time she saw some of the guys, they would run away, and the girls would have to abandon the human crutch idea and chase them down.īy the end of lunch hour, Sophia still didn’t get her left shoe back. The problem with forming human crutches is that it’s incredibly slow. The best part of this was that she kept her left sock mostly off the ground so we could all see how filthy it was. She put her dirty sock into her right shoe and the girls started forming human crutches for her so she didn’t have to put her foot on the ground. It took her nearly half of the lunch hour before she recovered her first shoe, her right one. Some of the girls had come out to help her at this point. She was disappointed to see that none of them had her shoes. She saw some of the guys by the baseball diamond and to her credit, ran there in her socks. ![]() I followed behind her as she walked through the courtyard, then on to the path around the school. Sophia reluctantly went outside in her white socks, they were still fairly clean. I had to stay behind to make sure that Sophia gave everyone a legit head start. The guys had their head start and all ran in various directions throughout the school, the field, anywhere they could go. Spoiler alert, she was going to be tricked a lot today. Two guys took one of her shoes and head outside, but we all split up so Sophia wouldn’t know which one of us had her shoe until she caught us only to be happy she got her shoe back, or disappointed that she had been tricked. Sophia reluctantly slipped off her white Nike Air Force 1s and revealed her white ankle socks. It was the first and only time in our game of “Pass the Shoe” that someone had to give up both shoes. It didn’t help Sophia that she was one of the girls that loved to run away with the guys’ shoes whenever she had them, so a lot of the guys were looking forward to the day that Sophia had to give her shoe up.Īfter some discussions, both parties agreed that on this day, only Sophia had to give up her shoes, both of them. The next day, when lunch came, the guys and girls were deciding what to do. She was the next one on the list to be “it” but she didn’t make it to school that day because she had a piano exam or something. The girls usually played it safe and would either hop or form human crutches to help make sure their socks stayed clean (they usually didn’t). Sure our socks would get dirty, but we would get our shoe back quickly. The guys usually didn’t care and would just go running outside with one shoe and one sock on. ![]() About 99% of the time, the groups would go outside and walk around the entire outside of the school, making sure that it would be difficult to catch them. Whoever took the shoe had a head start and then the person who was it would have to go and find it. The guys would give their shoe to the girls, and the girls would give their shoe to the guys. When I was younger, my friends in high school used to play a game we called “Pass the Shoe.” Basically on any day, one of the guys and one of the girls in my group would be “it.” That meant they would have to give up one shoe during lunch and would have to get it back by the end of lunch hour.
